I'll give you a quick hint, the secret has nothing to do with gluten or sugar. I'm going to spend some time trying to help you understand the importance of this #1 secret.
Over the years you have seen fads come and go, correct? How long did the Atkins Diet last? How long was low carb a craze? How long was the shake diet around?
Sure, some of these definitely gained some serious traction, but they all end up in the same spot. Obsolete. But why? If the Atkins Diet was so bloody good, how come it's not around and commonly found in households anymore?
If shake diets work, then why doesn't everyone do it?
If companies like Herbalife, Isagenix, YOR Health and all those other BS companies, who only care about your $$ not your health, were such a great option, why don't we all take their products?
It's pretty simple, because none of that crap actually works (YES, THIS SHOULD COME ACROSS AS PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE). Where is the first person who got on the shake diet? Where are they now? Have they kept the weight off? NO! Have they created any healthy habits? NO! Have they enhanced their health? NO! Have they got a lighter wallet? YES!
Can you see the trend? None of these programs are actually effective at achieving anything long term. They help you lose some weight, then you go back to eating normal, gain weight again, then go back on the shake diet, and so continues the vicious cycle of failure.
I'm a lean, 30 year old male. I exercise regularly, I eat very well, I drink alcohol on occasion, I eat sugar sometimes, I eat bread, pasta, rice, and still have around 12% body fat. How is this possible? Because of 1 reason. This is the main secret to successful health. Are you ready?
It's because I'm educated and have healthy habits. There it is, it's not a light bulb moment is it? It's pretty obvious really. The thing that all those people going on and off diets have in common, is that they not once, learned how to be healthy. It was simply a band-aid for the problem. Instead of addressing the causes, they treated the symptoms. The symptom is weight gain, the cause? Well, that could be a long list of things. Most commonly, the cause will be a poor diet and lack of movement.
Shake diets, supplements, and all that rubbish don't teach you what to eat for breakfast. They don't teach you the foods to avoid, and the ones to eat more of.
You know the old saying "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." This quote is very true. These companies spend no time on educating their customers to make healthier choices. It's just a "Take this and you'll be better" approach. Why don't they spend more time educating and informing their customers? There is no money in teaching them, that's why. The money is in the repeat business.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela.
I work with so many people on a daily basis, and I believe it is my #1 priority to educate them. Not to train them, not to coach them, but to educate them. If I can just teach them 1 thing every time they come and see me, I have provided my purpose and done my service to them. I have a lot of knowledge to share, I just need to get it out there. I know not everyone wishes to learn, but that doesn't stop me teaching them. A school teacher doesn't ignore a student if they are mucking up, because for as long as they are in their classroom, they will teach them to the best of their ability.
Without educating yourself about how to make healthier choices, you will forever be a slave to big corporations taking you for a ride.
Educate. Implement. Reassess. In that order!
I hope you took something away from this article. Now what's the first thing you would like to know about?
